In a surprise move on the morning of May 28, 2009, the Iraqi police force attacked Ashraf at its entrance. They imposed a siege and for two months they exerted mounting pressures, threats and restrictions on Ashraf. Finally on July 28, 2009, they launched a brutal attack on Ashraf residents killing them savagely together with other suppressive forces at the behest of Khamenei who is engulfed in a nationwide uprising in IranNCRI – The Iraqi authorities and forces, in fear of international consequences of their inhumane measures and crimes against residents of Camp Ashraf, resorted to a stage managed show to cover up and justify their crimes.

Within this context, the Iraqi forces have been arranging for a stage show in Ashraf throughout last night and this morning to hide their crimes as representatives of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) were going to visit the Camp.

To this end, the Iraqi forces have removed armored vehicles from inside Ashraf to pretend that their presence is to provide protection to the Camp. They have taken away truncheons, axes and belts with sharp metal pieces from police force and other forces based inside the Camp and given them batons.

The Iraqi authorities have told some of the suppliers of food stuff, who were prevented from going to Ashraf for some time, to go there today with their lorries filled with food. Timing of their arrival to the Camp has been arranged to coincide with the visit of the representatives of UNAMI to Ashraf.
